Nikon just added Bluetooth and more to its excellent D5500 DSLR – meet the D5600

0
Nikon has unveiled a new DSLR, the D5600, adding Bluetooth connectivity to its already impressive D5500 camera.
The Japanese company has essentially just upgraded the D5500, adding its SnapBridge Bluetooth technology to the affordable DSLR, which we gave a healthy 8/10 score in our Nikon D5500 review.
SnapBridge lets users pair the camera with their smartphone for always-on image syncing, automatic backups, and easy photo sharing.
Other than that, the D5600 adds a time-lapse movie mode borrowed from the D7200, and Nikon also says that the new camera features an enhanced touchscreen, although we won't really know what this amounts to until we go hands-on.
It looks a little something like this...

Elsewhere, the camera's specs are much the same – like the D5500, it's got a 24.2MP APS-C sensor, Expeed 4 processor, 1080p 60fps video, and a 3.2-inch tilting display.
All of which are welcome developments and carry-overs, although the bad news is that Nikon is only set to launch the D5600 in Japan for now, with final pricing, specs, and international availability yet to be confirmed.
When it comes to a UK and US release, it's worth keeping an eye on CES 2017, when the company may look to catwalk its latest mid-range DSLR to a wider audience.
